With Producers Guild Nominations, the Oscar Picture Gets Clearer

Rounding out a busy awards-season week, the Producers Guild of America announced the 10 films nominated for its best feature award. The nominations include box-office hits ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Barbie,’ which have been dominating awards season. The producers’ list of feature-film nominees is: ‘American Fiction,’ ‘Anatomy of a Fall,’ ‘Barbie,’ ‘The Holdovers,’ ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,’ ‘Maestro,’ ‘Oppenheimer,’ ‘Past Lives,’ ‘Poor Things,’ and ‘The Zone of Interest.’ The producers organization is known for accurately predicting Oscar nominations. In the past five years, only six movies not nominated by this guild received an Oscar nomination for best picture, highlighting the difference in sensibilities between the producers and Oscar voters. Oscar voters tend to favor international and independent films.
